The International Plastic Modellers' Society
was founded in Great Britain in 1963, by
modellers, for the benefit of modellers.
It was originally founded as the British
Plastic Modellers' Society, but soon expanded
into a truly International body with many
branches across the world, including, since
2007, Ireland. Society members build anything
from standard kits to complicated scratchbuilt
models using plastic as the primary medium.
IPMS Ireland was officially formed in November
2008, and has currently three local chapter
(or branches) in Dublin, Cork and Shannon.
To
join just as a branch member you can email
the Secretary of the club, Philip Jones
at philipprenton[at]eircom[dot]net and he'll
get a membership form to you. Alternatively,
you can download the Membership Application
Form here,
print it, complete it and post it back to
Philip at the address shown on the form.
Membership fees cover a calendar year, and
are as follows:-
Adult €20, Junior €5, OAP/Student
€10 and Family €20.
Other advantages of membership (aside from
the realisation that you are not alone in
your hobby) include group tours/days out
(e.g. visits to museums, Baldonnel, etc),
discounts from model retailers for club
members, and free attendance to the largest
modelling event in Europe – Scale
Model World in Telford, UK - every November
(and participation in the model competition
there).
If you have any queries, ideas, or anything
that you’d like to see, don’t
hesitate to contact any one of the committee.
You can find all the relevant details over
at the contact
page.
Happy Modelling!
