Another quick question; I noticed a people here have ordered from HobbyLink Japan and I was wondering how long it generally took the items to get to Ireland?

By the way, thanks for answering all these questions. I haven't ordered online all that much and I want it to go as smoothly as possible.

I have gotten a couple of bits from HLJ and found them to be very good overall, about 10 days to get from Japan to Irl by FedEx.
The only thing against them is that they are outside the EU and as such anything you get from them, and any other
non-EU internet retailer for that matter, may get get stopped for import charges and be liable for duty(if due), VAT and handling charge by the carrier.
If you select the delivery by FedEx option, you will definitely get caught for import charges, I was that soldierBoo hoo!
I ended up paying €140 approx (incl shipping) for a particular kit, plus about €39 for VAT & handling for a kit upon arrival.
I see the same kit for sale in the UK today for £230 not including P&P, so not too bad in the grand scheme of things.

Well I ordered two Hasegawa Weapons Sets from HLJ, I love ordinance, just over two weeks ago and they arrived yesterday. Each set was about €5 and the postage was about €5 for the SAL option, so €15 in total. I'm very impressed with the pricing and the speed of delivery. I'll definitely order from them again.

SnM Stuff: Vallejo Paints

If you're looking for Vallejo Paints, whether it be Model Color, Model Air, Game Color or Panzer Aces you can find them here. You can also get the Vallejo metallic paints, their varnishes, washes, pigments, effects and modelling putty here too.

They also carry Mig Pigments and Oils, Tamiya Paints and a whole host of other stuff as well. All of the prices are very reasonable and shipping is calculated from the weight of each item so it actually comes out rather cheap .

I've ordered from them twice and they ship within a day, stuff gets over here pretty fast.

Just to let you know, I think the minimum price for ordering is gone from Hannants, ordered a set of decals from them for just over 9 euro and it arrived a week later. And I live in southern France so it was pretty quick shipping.

The minimum order at Hannants is still in place... it's just that you ordered a decal sheet which comes under the "small flats" category. Minimum order value for decals and etched sheets to Europe is £5.98. If you're ordering a kit (or something that needs to be parcelled) then the minimum order value is £29.98.

My LMS deal s with Hannants so when I'm looking for stuff they tag it on to their orders and I get it when I want it.

But then again thats one of the advantages of having a very helpful local guy....RB Models Clonmel...deserves a little mention.

It was like that when I got here...can't blame me!

I've also had mixed dealings with Hannants, some good, some bad. By far and away the best service I've come across is the other side of the pond, with a wide variety of mainly smaller accessory shops. (you really haven't had good service until you've tried ad astra masks from Canada. I think he's a one man band, but the service is unbelievable).

I think there was also an issue a while back with Hannants customer database being hacked, but this may have been a rumour as it didn't directly affect me.

On the bench:
1/24 Airfix Bf109 E OOB
1/24 Trumpeter Hurricane IIc, most definitely not OOB.

In the wings:
Trumpeter Hurricane MkI, BoB in flight versus Airfix B2 Stuka, 1/24 dogfight double.

Thought I'd mention that anyone interested in modern 1/35th scale armour might want to pop into Banba Toymaster on Mary Street, Dublin as they have two Trumpeter Stryker NBC RV's in stock. I didn't catch the price but I find Toymaster to be slightly cheaper than Marks Models in most cases.

Another message about Toymaster on Mary Street; they have a nice selection of 1/72nd scale Hasegawa aircraft available, prices range from €13 for a French Mirage F1 to €23 for a MiG-29. They have both modern jets and older WWII planes including some Japanese ones.

Well worth looking into because those prices are very agreeable.
