Hi everyone, I'm building the Revell Dauphin 2 helicopter in the US Coastguard scheme and was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for the overall orange colour? (preferably in acrylic) The instructions say "Fiery Red" but I've used that paint before on another build and it's not right for this. Most online sources seem to quote "International Orange" or "Chevy Red" but have had no luck finding those. Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance, Dermot On the bench:1/72 Airfix Gazelle conversion 1/72 Revell F-16A 1/72 Revell Ec-135 Completed BuildsIn the pipeline1/72 Revell F-14D Tomcat diorama

That's a tricky one. I've looked at a few examples on Google Images and the colour is like a mixture of red and orange but not quite red or orange. The closest colours I've found are either Vallejo Scarlet or Vallejo Vermilion from the Model Colour range. There's a 'model shop' on Capel Street and the guy has a stand of Vallejo paints down the back, you might find them there. I don't know how long the paint bottles have been sitting there though, last time I checked they were covered in dust. Otherwise I know a place in the U.K you can order the paints if you need too.

There's some link, depends how badly you need exact match you can get chip painted in the original paint for merely 40bucks: http://www.milspeccoating.com/Federal-Standard-595-Colors-s/41.htm There's few Coast Gurad Reds and Oranges as well as International Orange. From my point of view, I'd use white as a base and mix Red and Orange 1:1 for the 'Coastguard Red'

Thanks for the heads up Sean and I think I know that shop; will give it a try and the Vermilion looks like a good match. @FiSE - will go with a base of white, thanks. I did try mixing two Revell Acrylics just like that but the consistency was weird - like i had mixed two different brands! Will keep you posted on how i get on.
