Limerick/Shannon branch was there in full strength - left to right: Filip, Liam, David, Alan, Dany

We had a long brainstorming session about this year's Nationals as advertised above and we went through some of our current projects too. We all have brought those things with wings only Dany is sticking to his current trend and brought some interesting kits of steam engines - looks like an interesting project.
We slightly touched the subject of rivets adding rivets and riveting procedures of our plastic wonders, but more lessons and demos will be needed next time to make sure that we are familiar with most of the aspects of this technique.

That's it for now, next meeting should be at the end of February, date to be confirmed later.

Today (Sunday 11 March) saw the Limerick/Shannon branch with an extensive display as part of the Irish Amateur Radio Society, held in the Radisson Blu Hotel outside Limerick. The show was well attended and many of the flyers for the forthcoming Nationals were taken away by those attending. There were lots of comments along the lines "Oh I used to build those" or "I have a few boxes of those in the attic"! so hopefully we may gain some members.

Filip sanding away to his heart's content... Boats & Trains

Tanks/AFV's,

Boats and who we are......

all happily at work, note all the flyers.. & Planes

and more planes

Notice the benefit of Klear on this fine selection on 1:72 & 1:48 models.

Can we fill that space?

"Yes we Can"

Thanks to everybody who turned up, with models in support, and we all had a good day, and even got invited back!!

The A-10 is Alan Brislanes. It's 1/32 and beautifully made.

BTW for info, the LARGE RC model NAVY, behind Filip, in the first photo, has a turbo engine installed and is capable of 200MPH! according to the owner. It is huge and because of it's size and speed he is prohibited from flying it in the Shannon Control Zone or any airport control zone. He lives in the Shannon control zone.

Sorry Filip, from an aviation viewpoint, and 1:72 at that looking down from 15,000 ft they looked like tanks, in future I'll "try" to refer to them as AFV's or Targets!

Just a quick one about our last meeting. There were fewer members in attendance yesterday - we blame it on the Easter egg hunt, but it was a productive meeting nevertheless.

Steve Culliton - our competition secretary - travelled up from Cork to see the venue for 2012 Nationals and to sort out some small details, so the meeting was very business like with only few minutes left to talk about models and Limerick/Shannon branch trip to IMSS show in Dublin.
And, ehm, yes, light philosophical discussion about the enjoyment of the hobby has been carried out over the usual cup o'coffee and it looks like that the 'it's only hobby' line will catch up pretty soon as an universal answer to anything...Argue

Overall good and productive meeting and a couple of pics of some plastic:

Alan's nicely built BAT21 inspired Cessna -good old Heller 1/48- with Danny Glover

Liam and Lindsay are contemplating over some of the points raised during the meeting, with pile of rubbish on the table, Filip's Brisfits, Liam's Zero, Alan's Cessna and some other stuff
