Filip, Nice work, the Orange is on the outside, green inside and white as you so rightly say, in the middle

Yep, but on which side is that Green? I know about the under wing stripes - if there were any at the time of BF.I deployment in Limerick, but fuselage, scratching my head, looking at all 6 photographs of early BF.I scheme and still don't know, why they haven't took a photos from both sides, front and back so all the marking is clearly visible? I am half tempted to put RAF roundels on the wings, it would look interesting with the Irish tricolours on the rudder and fuselage...

Filip, giving you a quick reply, i don't think the early BF2 had any fuselage tricolour markings. I think they just had the serial BF-1 or what ever. The top most likely had the same as the lower, with green on the inside etc. Try the www.militaryarchives.ie in case they have any useful photos up on the net

Lovely work! Don't know how I missed the updates on this thread. I don't have a clue about these aircraft but I have to admire the skill of workmanship and paint job. Very nice! Look forward to see them finished.
What product did you use to mask the red and white splinter camo?
Cheers
Vinny

Thanks Vinny, to be honest I am getting a bit impatient myself and slowly starting to dig into another double build. I have used plotter cut masking vinyl, which I am normally using for my bread earning work.
David, thanks for the link. Even with some more photos - if I'll find some - it will be hard to tell as I would have to know photographic material used and it'll be impossible, unless I know that something in the photo is red or yellow /with yellow, red, orange turning darker than green and blue on orthochromatic material used during WWI right up to mid 20's in some instances, which would mean that the lighter band isn't really Orange, but perhaps Green as opposed to panchromatic films where the lighter band would be orange... Confusing? That's only the tip of the iceberg./
Just a quick update: When moving to the spraybooth, the Irish Fighter got airborne and landed on it's nose... It did survive, but, unfortunately it will not be clean build as lot of repair work will mess things up a bit
BTW, that militaryarchive webpage is very hard for navigation and it doesn't show anything, just link to another link which links somewhere else... No photos though

Ah sorry about the link, I didn't try it before recommending it, it was as a result of an item on RTE news (TV) and they showed photos etc and said that it was all on-line. SNAFU I think the military would call that.
Sorry about the flight of the model, what a shame as it was looking terrific.

Right, some documentation of the fall and rebuild. It's still not completely repaired, but getting there and while at it I have added one or two details which I have ommited on the 'test build' After test flight, well, you wouldn't go too far with only one wing. The scale of the damage isn't obvious from the photograph, but... : New engine craddle from copper wire, just in case... It might not be as detailed as the plastic one - just couldn't be arsed, really - but it's much stronger. Unfortunately, as with similar cases, the geometry isn't as good as it was originally, but hey, don't tell anyone: Wonder, did I get them colours right? Some touch-ups will be done later:

Haven't forgot about it, just doing nothing on it for now... My usual rigging isn't working on this one and I will have to get some new stuff. So it's -they are- in the box for a while.

...shrinking thread on is put through testing. A bit of trial and error on the out of the box kit. Not exactly top class, but getting there: It works, it's labour demanding or it might seems like it, but you can get three different thicknesses from one thread and it's flexible and stay stretched once heat shrunk. More on this one later. PS, just looking at it, I have a hell lot of work to do if I want to get those two Fighters ready for IMSS show next weekend
