I have to put my hand up, the partially clothed lady is mine. She will acquire a little more in the next few weeks.

See, even my figurines are large scale. And yes, I think when I was measuring up for the leather padding, 34C came in about right.
It was good to see so many new faces, and plenty of armour guys now too, so it may stop looking like an airfield at the next meeting, Battlestar notwithstanding.

Folks,
Next meeting is scheduled for 18th February. However, to accommodate others also using the Exchange, the meet will begin at 10 am and finish at 12 noon (there is a martial arts class there from 12, which needs the whole place) (hint: The Porterhouse opens just before noon!!)
Arrangements are being made to collect a key on the Friday afternoon, so we will be sure of getting in this time!
All are welcome!
Philip

Cheers Philip,
I'm going to try to make it to the exchange. I would like to meet all of you and it would be nice to go back to the old stopming ground of the porterhouse. My first taxable job was in the porterhouse, back when it opened, I worked there for 18 months as a barman after my leaving cert.

As Vinny asked: Anyone care to do a "who's who" from left to right on the photo? First name and forum name would be great!

The meeting on 18th February went very well - there were ten folks in attendance. Thankfully, I was able to collect the key from the "collective" in the Exchange the day before, and opened up without any alarms going off! So we got in this time - no tripping off to the Porterhouse on this occasion. We therefore had the place to ourselves, until the martial arts aficionados started arriving at five to twelve. Some really great models on show - Sean (Mullarkey) managed to make it, as his match had been cancelled, and brought along the German E-boat. Lovely job, especially the weathering, and also the cables on the deckside railings - all put in by hand. Many of the regulars were there, including Pat, Jason, Sean (Walsh), Simon, Dermot, Tony and Steve. Joe Moran came along again (for his second meeting), with some beautiful Great War birds. I brought my little e-bay photo booth, purchased at Maplins last year, and managed to get some of the models in there during the meeting for photographing. Missed some - however, Dermot also had a camera with him and took some shots also, so the ones that I missed are there for all to see (I suspect that the E-boat wouldn't have fitted anyhow....) You can see his photos on the other thread that I put up (at Pat's suggestion) to remind foks of the change in time. That is here: http://www.ipmsireland.com/forum/yaf_postsm6254_FEBRUARY-2012-Dublin-Chapter-meeting--10-am-to-12-noon--18th-February.aspx#6254 However, I am putting mine up on this thread, as it is the longer-term one for the Dublin meetings, from the start of the Dublin Chapter in Bray in 2008, so as to keep the history going... Here are some shots of the finished Galactica, done by Jason, which is probably the last time it will appear on the forum, as he is giving the finished creation to a friend this week...Jason told us that there were over a 1,000 individual decals to be attached as part of the build - these are on all the "armoured" bits, as well as in each and every recessed panel. (That guy sure has patience!) (look at that detail on the engine! - and the very effective weathering. You can just see that it has met a few Cylons) Steve brought along a Pershing tank, with the accessories that he has been making up from putty:- (look at the sag due to gravity on the front of the tank - marvellous work!) Joe brought along a duo of Great War biplane fighters:- As well as this larger monoplane seaplane:- (you gotta love that multicoloured camo!) Apart from the torpedo boat, and a Viper (NB not the same scale as Jason's Galactica!), Sean brought his Lybian "technical", which has been seen on other threads on the forum. It looked even better in the flesh. The yellow stripe on the "hoodie" and the "adidas" trainer stripes are all done by hand! And Pat brought along his Central European ruined building diorama, which is a work in progress, with the figures yet to be painted, but the underlying diorama almost complete. The details of the building, all of which are hand constructed and painted, are simply suberb! Thanks, guys, for a great selection of stuff, and the usual talk of things plastic.
Due to the fact that our normal meeting day is the third Saturday in the month, and that being March 17th, the general consensus was to go for March 24th instead. So hope to see you all then.......
Philip

PROBLEMS guys
I have just got an e-mail from the "Collective" at the Exchange that they have had to cancel our booking for the 24th. Apparently there is another group also booked for that day - a body painting workshop - which now says that they need the whole place, as they cannot share with us for "privacy" reasons!!!
Needless to say, I am not well pleased and am waiting for a response from the folks in the Exchange as to how this has happened. It is more than a little annoying, as I made the booking on March 2nd for our meeting.
It may mean (since their calendar shows the same body painting people on for the following Saturday - 31st) that we may not get the Exchange this month.
So - what do people want to do? We could just cancel, or we could come along to the Porterhouse at 12 noon for a get together anyhow. I would welcome the opinions of Dublin Chapter members on this one!
Thanks - and apologies!
Philip

No need to apologise Philip, not your fault. Porterhouse works for me.
Strange that they have concerns about privacy with those big plate glass windows.... I don't recall seeing blinds on them

Of course I'll show up at the Porter House but I don't really think it works as a meeting venue. As Sean says Philip there's no need to apologise- it's ie really unprofessional on the part of the Exchange- what makes the body painters more important than us? We've been using the venue for over a year now

I agree, let's do the Porterhouse if we can. Maybe if we contact them in advance they'd give us one of the upper rooms?
The Exchange seems to be getting less reliable these days, I know they have a lot of different events going on but we seem to be the ones being pushed away or forgotten about quite a bit.

I probably won't be able to make this one due to work, but if I can, I'll aim for the Porterhouse for 12. I agree that we're clearly very much the poor cousins as far as the Exchange is concerned. From what you're saying Philip, we booked the room first, and now we're being moved. That's just very bad business. Anywhere else in town that have rooms we could meet in? J. We are not arty or crafty enough to be taken seriously by the exchange. Maybe we need to talk more about how our art makes us feel and the emotions they should provoke in the viewer. Or the importance of our art Or maybe we should airbrush naked people.
Lunch meeting is way better than no meeting. I will be there for sure.
Next month I will bring my casting rig.
