Hi all,
The next meeting is provisionally booked for Saturday, 22th November 2008 from 2pm. Venue is as usual the Montenotte Hotel. This is the weekend after Telford and the week before the Aviation Fair in Dublin and the model show in Waterford. We hope to feature a projector/slideshow style report on Telford for those not able to attend the IPMS (UK) Nationals, amongst other things.

If you can make it please come along, and bring something with you. As always, if you have any kits you wish to sell or swap, bring them too. If you can't make it, let me know what days/times suit and we'll try to arrange something different in the future. We had a smaller than usual turnout last time, but I received only one notice of non-attendance. If the times/dates don't suit, let me know, otherwise I can't do anything about it!

Cheers,
Roy

Reason for edit; time changed to 2pm.

See you all there

Better make it 2pm. Gotta go march in the city at 11.45am. The venue is the same, but the room is changed, ask for directions to the presidential suite from reception!

Cheers, Roy

Hi all,

as mentioned on the other post, I am out of Cork for the next 3 months. If anyone else wants to organise a meeting feel free to contact the Montenotte Hotel and ask for the usual room for the IPMS Model Club. Just make sure to let me know so I can send out a text alert to all those not on email.

Cheers,
Roy

Bump-tickety-bump!

Reminder! IPMS Cork meeting 2day at 18:30-19:30. Meet outside Marks Models at 18:25. Bring a mug if you want a cup of coffee/tea! First (sorta) meeting so no need to bring a model if you want, time will be short! bring your wallet however, as there is a nice little surprise for anyone looking to buy kits/tools/supplies! :-) Cheers, Roy!

Well, thankfully it looks like the Cork Branch has received a zap from the defibrillator and has been taken off life support..........

The meeting kicked off at 18:30 in Marks Models premises in Oliver Plunkett Street. There were 8 attendees and 3 apologies. There are hopefully a number of others who are not currently IPMS members but hope to make it for the next meeting.

As there was a large gap since the last time there was a gathering in Cork, the first half of the meeting was taken up with a brief update on the status of IPMS Ireland and IPMS Cork. We then outlined what the proposed plans are for IPMS Cork going forward. A discussion ensued on what directions the group would like to take. Several plans were laid for the next few meetings and we then had a brief chat about actual modelling! Several interesting themes were proposed and some will be acted upon for the next 3 meets. We have also set the seeds for some very interesting possibilities for a branch display at both 2011 and 2012 Nats!

We will have display space afforded to us in the shop which will be rotated on a monthly basis. Dates for the IMSS show in May and the IPMS Ireland show in Oct were announced for those who were not aware of same. This was followed by a flurry of purchasing activity as there was a small discount offered to those present as a token of the occasion.

The next meeting is scheduled for 28th May 2011, again at 18:30 and again at Marks Models Cork shop. Topics will hopefully cover an airbrush demonstration and a demo on using static grass. Bob will show a budget airbrush compressor made from old fridge parts and an empty fire extinguisher. George promises to have HMS Hood finished and I will have a black and gold car!

The current plan is to continue to have meets on the last Saturday of the month.

Big thanks to Georgeconna for all the help in securing the venue for us. We're back!

Well done Roy and George for jump starting the Cork Branch again, it's good that you have a venue sorted and well supported attendance.
I like the idea of the DIY compressor, maybe you could put "How To" details up after the next meeting.
BTW I am curious about the black and gold car...care to enlighten us with more details.

Welcome back to the Cork Branch

Well done Guys great to see, very impressed that you've secured display space in Marks Models in Cork on a rotation basis - brilliant! would love to see that happen in the Marks Models Store in Dublin City - think its a great idea!!! Can anyone push it for Dublin? It would really show what can be done with a model kit especially for the younger generation!

Again well done

Have to agree, a display space in any of the Mark's Models up here would be an excellent idea. I know they definitely have display space in the Dun Laoghaire store, though it's currently fairly full. Not sure about the one in the city centre. Anyone know anyone in the Dublin Stores ( maybe you could put a word in Georgeconna ? :) ).

J.

Hi all,

Another successful meeting; many of our regular members were absent, due to some matches or something on TV.......

However, as we had a gathering in conjunction with an Airbrush-for-dummies demo there was a nice crowd present, with a hopeful couple of new members on the way as a result.

The next meeting is brought forward a day to the 24th Jun at 18:30. We may have a resin talk that night. (TBC).

Cheers,
Roy

I was about to get back to you on that today but you managed to confirm it yourself. As far as I know it's due to start at 18:30 as normal and not 18:00. George also posted 18:30 on the Marks Models Facebook page during the week. It gives him a little time to arrange the shop for any demos and also take a break to get some food. Tomorrow is a demo on silicon moulding and resin casting... should be very interesting, and I for one have wanted to give this a go for a long time.

See you there!

Vinny
