Good one Roy, Sorry could not talk much today as up the walls as you saw. I took home a Zero myself (as well as a Hasgawa 1/48 Draken and RN 1/48 F-4!!) so I'll give it a start and see if I can get it done for the 27th , I must make sure I get rid of those seam lines as I don't want to draw undue critism from certain quarters. No point in bringing in the Missouri I'm doing again this month as I don't done much to it since. FYI: This will be the last meeting before Christmas Vinny is doing a Canopy line getting rid of a polishing demo. I might but a Tamiya jet then at some stage as those lines just well put my off, I just could not be arsed tackling them, lifes 2 short!!! G

Coolio! Just in case I can't find one of these offending canopies in the stash, would you (or any other attending the meeting) have a spare seamlined canopy to volunteer for the demo? At least you'd save time as I'd be doing the work for you TIA Vinny "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."-Albert Einstein

Not a stupid question at all. A seam lined (maybe my use of seam is misleading) canopy is when a moulding line, that shouldn't be there and isn't on the real thing, is very visible. It's caused in the production process in old moulds or the complex shape of the canopy itself makes it difficult to reproduce easily and pop out of the injection moulding machine. Nasty little buggers that modellers often avoid... but very easily fixed. They look like this... I cannot make the meeting for commute reasons but would it be possible for someone to throw up a little photo and commented report on how to get rid of the seam.
I have a kit that I want to kick off but there is a horrendous seam on it that has stopped me dead in my tracks.
Thanks in advance
John

I can do one better John. Here's a Youtube video from Phil Flory, the guy who owns Flory Models. His models are fantastic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cosYd8q05eELooks like I'm made myself redundant... no need for me to do a demo on it now. Youtube is a great resource for tutorials on models... plenty of them out there on every topic. The videos uploaded by Hyperscale are excellent. good meeting again On Saturday. It appears that we're settling into a rythm now for the meeting. Fair play to both guys that privided tutorials. Inspired by the idea of a €10 build...I'm gonna make the effort now and have a Tamiya Lotus 7 series 2 built OOB by next meeting In January . Again fair Play to George for facilitating the meeting @ Marks Note: I don't recall the Biscuits being opened , I'll take care of this the next night........ .

The Cork branch got a mention on the Sean Moncrief show during the week. Don't know what the context was. I assume it was someone asking where Cork modellers meet up. Good plug, though!

Someone e-mailed the show looking for a model-making club in Cork. I emailed the show with the details of the IPMS:Ireland website, the Cork branch and Mark's Models in Cork. So, Mark's got a plug as well! Just a thought: Maybe someone down there can ask George if he could put up a notice or something advertising IPMS Ireland/Cork and when your next meeting is. There may be others out there similar to the bloke who emailed the radio show. Liam

Liam,
Thanks for the mention, Christ I hope we don't get mobbed its tihgt enough at the moment.
I post up on the Facebook site about the model meetings and on here each month.
I produced posters for the 1st couple of meetings but dont have ink nor paper at the moment as won't have for a good while yet but no one else took up the mantle.
I'll bring the poster subject up at the next meeting if someone want to take it onboad then I have no issue sticking them up. Maybe cost's for ink and such need to be discussed as well as those ink things are a bloody small fortune.
I also purchased an electronic picture frame so I can roll adds and model show info in the shop without the need for paper. Once I find the time to get it set up and rolling I can include the meeting into on that so thats an alternative to posters
cheers
George

Roy mentioned at the last meeting that he has access to a colour printer at work where he prints decal sheets. Maybe he'll be able to print off a couple A4s for the shop. I believe he also has the club laminator for the membership cards... maybe it can lamitate A4s advertising the club details for longterm display? I know a good place to get printing done for cheap as I use if for artwork and proofs so there's no need for anyone to go to the expense of buying those rip-off ink cartridges.
George, there's no need for you to go to any more expense as you do more than enough for the meetings already... outside of notifying people on Facebook, organsing the venue, bringing the furniture, coming up with the agendas and doing most of the demos, what more can you do?! You should be made an honourary committee member! I'd like to say fair play to you and thanks for all your work, time and effort in getting the Cork meetings up and running again.

Hi all,
Just a reminder that the next meeting is on tomorrow night at the usual venue and the usual time of 1830hrs.
If anyone is around earlier to help out set up a table n stuff it would be a great help
Hopefully I just do a quick demo on Streched sprue ad show of some elastic thread and I hope some of you blokes have finished your E10 builds and will be bringing them in.
See you then.
Cheers
George

Just back from the Cork meeting and after meeting pints, Great meeting to be had, We had Roderick Demonstrate how to build a Tamiya Zero in 40 mins, No problem. I must admit I have not seen a fellow enjoying making a model so much in my life.
Also a quick workshop on how to make stretched sprue aerial with a demo and some folks having a hands on go. It's amazing that you think everyone would know about these techniques but it was some lads 1st time seeing this being done.
We had some very unusual models on show this time round, We had one of the most beautiful DC-3's I have ever seen in a long time in USAF Artic Dayglo scheme. 2 of models A Ramjet version of the Japenese K4 flying wing Glider, A load of Tamiya kits in the guise of Fw-190, Zeros, 190D, F-15, Mossie. Steve brought in his not quite done yet Mirage F-1 so we will all be looking forward to seeing that done.
One of the most unusual item was a BMW Car bought in a pound shop and customed into a Race car with some body work done and decals from Oz.
I had the one of the lastest releases from Airfix the Gnat which was half made and also an 1/72 Emhar German WW1 Tank the A7V which was not quite complete.
All in all a very relaxed and enjoyable meeting, Already looking forward to the next one.
I forgot my camera this time so I hope Vincy will post up some photos of the models on show.
Cheers
George
