Time, I think, to start another walkaround. This time, it is Allied rather than Axis, and is the famed P-51C (or Mustang to the Brits), in the colours of the Tuskegee airmen. The particular example is again from Kermit Week's Fantasy of Flight museum in Florida, and is painted in the colours of "INA The Macon Belle", flown by 1st Lt Lee "Buddy" Archer, of the 302nd FS, 332nd FG, 15th Air Force, based in Foggia, Italy, in 1944.
The metal finish is almost mirror-like, so could prove to be an interesting, if challenging, modelling project. (In real life, the finish might have been a little less pristine, given the amount of flying that these great pilots did, but the references I have indicate that the aircraft were usually kept in tip-top condition by the maintenance crews).
Enjoy!
