Hi gents
I am currently working on an Irish Army 1/35 Landsverk L180. It's getting close to that time when I have to worry about colours and camouflage scheme. I have decided on modelling the car in its WWII era colours. According to Karl Martin's "Irish Army Vehicles" I am looking for a dark gray/green and a light grey machine. Can anyone help with commercial hobby colour equivalents ,I am aware of the arcane mix for Quaker Grey, which is why I am looking for a lazy equivalent :).
In addition to the colours does anyone have access to photos of the cars featuring their camouflage scheme? I have a photo of ZC5838 + ZC5837 at an Easter parade circa 1942. On page 29 of Martin's aforementioned book there is a good side view of a L180. From these photos I can see that the scheme is similar but not identical for the cars. I am particularly interested in rear views and the left hand side of the cars.
And lastly apart form the car number registration number there doesn't appear to be any sort of unit markings. Is this right?

I'm at work right now and dont have access to my usual bits but if I remember correctly then Tamiya Field Grey is a close match to the the Irish quaker grey. I read somewhere this color was similiar to the grey used on the seafires and this is the nearest match i can find. If your going for an ealy scheme you are msot likely looking at something closer to Panzer Grey, these vehicles were delivered in a livery similiar if not the same as I visited an L180 kept by the DF in full working order, she has been kept in almost imaculate condition and sports a recently painted dark-blue/navy color. I asked about this and I was told this is what the DF considered to be the original color. Other vehicles like the Universal Carrier and the Landverk Tank were also is this identical color. If you PM me an email address I'll forward on a photo I also have this model (or should I say chunk of Resin) and am looking forward to making it, I'll most likely go with the original color scheme of PAzer Grey as this was the only version which supports the use of the supplied armoured wheels. Later color schemes sported different wheels and tyres which the model doesnt provise and was unique to the Irish Army

Bit OT, Seafires were in shade very similair to RAF Interior Green, more Green than Grey... Hi Roy and Filip
Thanks for your replies. It looks like I am going to have to re-think my paint scheme. I was looking forward to the camouflage scheme but as Roy points out the wheel provided in the Scale Link kit are the original wheels. If you are going to have a go at this there are a few changes involved because the kit is of a Dutch car
-removal of the rearward facing machine gun
-replacing the Bofors main armament with a Madsen 20mm (I have changed barrels but the muzzle of the Madsen is quiet unusual and there are no after market options for obscure Danish weapons)
-replacing all the other auxiliary armament with Madsen equivalents
-the very distinctive radio mast needs to be scratch-built
-the upper main entry/exit hatch needs to be changed from 2 pieces to a single piece affair
-the wheels need some sort of steels pins/axel supports because as you said Roy this is one heavy chunk of resin.
-the upper rear deck needs to be expanded with plastic card otherwise the turret looks a wee bit small when compared to photos.
I will post some photos when I am a little further along. I have promised myself that this is a project I am actually going to finish in 2010. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the Update B, until now I hadnt thoroughly examined the rest of the vehicle and I wasnt aware of how much needed to be altered for an Irish version. Thanks for the update, I've noted the work needed now ta ..I'd love to see your build if can post some pics when the time comes!
