There has been some criticism that the National Committee has not, up to now, been informing the members of IPMS IRELAND of what is going on within the organisation.
Now that we have got the forum re-activated, and that there are changes at National Committee level, that is going to change! This forum topic will be used to keep people updated on what is happening in the club and (of course) get feedback from all the members on what they would want the Committee to do.
There was a meeting of the National Committee (with all but two members present) on September 25th, in Dublin, and the following is a short summary of the minutes of that meeting, outlining the key points agreed:-
1. The resignation of Liam Hourston as Chairman, and from the Committee, was noted. The resignation of Ken McFarlane as Newsletter Editor, and from the Committee, was also noted.
2. It was agreed that the new Chairman would be Vincent Murphy, until such time as an AGM could be held.
3. It was agreed that Simon Nolan would be co-opted to the Committee. Simon agreed to take on the job of Newsletter Editor after the current issue (being prepared by Filip Servit) has been issued.
4. The next Nationals will be held in Dublin (as had been announced at the Cork Nationals), and the date was agreed at 1st/2nd October 2011. A sub-committee consisting of Philip Jones, Paul Hurley, Vincent Murphy and Simon Nolan was set up to organise them.
5. The forum is to be reinstated, with Paul Hurley as administrator. The website is to be updated and improved.
6. In part due to problems with our records, and in part due to the current lack of activity of some of the branches, it was felt that holding an AGM immediately would not be practicable. It was decided that the current National Committee would therefore stay until the AGM could be organised, and it was felt that the best time for an AGM would be at the end of the first day of the Dublin Nationals (ie. 1st October 2011), so as to maximise attendance.
7. A proper Constitution or Articles of Association for IPMS IRELAND is seen as essential. Simon and Philip are to work on a draft, for approval at the AGM, based where relevant on the Articles of Association for IPMS (UK).
8. National Committee meetings are to be held at least four times a year, with two in Dublin and one each in Cork and Limerick, to reflect the membership of the club.
That's all for now, folks. If you have any comments or suggestions, they would be most welcome. Please give myself or Vincent a PM.
Philip

Time to Resurrect this Thread, now that we are properly constituted...
The AGM of IPMS IRELAND was held on Saturday last, October 1st 2011. 14 members were in attendance, and 8 votes were received by post.
Of the AGM attendance, there were four members from Dublin, three from Cork, two from Kildare, two from Shannon, one from Wicklow, one from Carlow and one from the UK.
The Club Constitution was adopted, by a vote of 19 in favour, 3 against (including the postal votes).
There were 9 places on the Committee. There were five nominations from the floor of the AGM, and four via postal ballots. There were therefore 9 nominations, and no need for an election count, as all were deemed elected.
The Committee members (in alphabetical order) are:
Alan Brislane, Gerry Carville, Steve Culliton, Gerard Heaney, Paul Hurley Philip Jones, Roy McKay, Vincent Murphy Simon Nolan
After the Irish Nationals had ended on the Sunday, and in line with the Constitution (which was by then in force), the Committee members present elected the five officers, as follows:-
Chairman: Vincent Murphy Vice-chairman: Roy McKay Secretary/Membership Secretary: Philip Jones Treasurer: Alan Brislane Competition Secretary: Steve Culliton
I will be arranging for the adopted Constitution to be put up on the website shortly, for the information of the members.
Philip

Nice one, thanks for the info Philip! May I make a suggestion. For those Committee members who also use this forum, could you list their usernames? Just so we know who is who? Thanks! J. On the bench - Revell 1:72 F-16B

That's a good idea. I know that Vincent is "murfv", Roy is "de boss", Simon is "Trooper N" and Paul is "ei-ylg". Mine is simply "philip" (as you might expect!)
However, as I am not an admin on the forum (Paul and Roy are), I don't know if the others have presences here. Perhaps one of the two might see this post and go behind the front pages to find out, and then enlighten us (apparently there are 11,000 "members" on the forum (mostly spammers)).

OH yes!
I should have mentioned.......
The AGM agreed that the best time of the year for the Irish Nationals is mid September to mid October, and that the next one should, ideally, be in the Limerick or Shannon area.
There was also agreement at the AGM on how membership subs are to be reckoned, and charged for, but I have to get my own head round the minutiae of this in order to write the minutes of the AGM, and once I have, I will be in a better position to let the members know.
Essentially, all subs from now on are on an annual, calendar year basis - that is, from January to December, but we will be making transitional arrangements for those who are currently paid up with subs that end in mid 2012, so they are not charged too much.

FOR THOSE MODELLERS ON THE FORUM WHO ARE MEMBERS OF IPMS IRELAND
The membership subscriptions are on an annual, calendar year, basis. So subscriptions are now due for renewal, and are for the whole year of 2012 (as per the previous post).
I will, in conjunction with the Treasurer, be sending out individual renewal reminders to you (by e-mail) over the next week or so. MANY THANKS to those members who didn't need a reminder and sent in their renewals already - it's really appreciated!
If your subscription expired in 2011, or before, then you need to renew now. If it expires in the next couple of months, then it would be helpful if you could renew soon. In each case, the sub is only €20. If your subscription expires after May 2012, then the subscription for the rest of 2012 will only be €10.
Please be aware that if you are not up to date with your sub, you cannot vote at the AGM, nor be a candidate for the committee, nor can you enter the competition awards at the Nationals that are reserved for members of IPMS Ireland (but you can enter the other competition classes). You will also have to pay in on the door at the Nationals, whereas members come in free. Also, if you are going to Telford, you have to pay on the door there if you are not also a member of IPMS (UK), as only current members of IPMS Ireland get in free (and also can come in an hour earlier each day than non-members) at SMW.
So, why not renew your sub? It's a very reasonable cost, and is well worth it!
You can pay by paypal (to ipmsfourprovinces@hotmail.com), or by cheque or postal order (made out to IPMS Ireland) to my address - see the home page of the website for details http://www.ipmsireland.com/ (there is no need, if you are a current member, to send in a new membership form).
If you are a reader/member of the forum, but have yet to join the club, then we would really welcome your support. The membership form is downloadable from the website, here:- http://www.ipmsireland.com/contact/Membership_form.pdf
