Hi All,

I've been off doing other things and still doing them (railway bits) and had a few major changes in my life, New Job, New baby girl (Thats 3 Gals now I own!!) but I would just like to mention that I am now looking after the Marks Models Shop in Olivier Plunkett Street, Cork.

We have been busy tidying up the shop with a good bit of work done and some more yet to do and a increase in stock has taken place with a Complete set of Humbrol paints, Glues, Decal Setting Solutions, Tamiya Masking tape etc and some stuff I did not know was ever stocked until know. Tamiya paints are available to order, I usually get deliveries twice a week. I hope to be able to improve the availability and to prevent the running out of paints etc in future as this was a problem for some time.

The Shop has even more kits than before with the shelves brimming with the usual suspects and some other new additions. The Trumpy 1/48 Su-24 is a peach of a kit and keeps wanting to come home with me each night!!!

If you are in Cork at any stage please do stop in to say Hi and take a look, Don't foget I can order in most mainstream kits that you may not see on the shelf or prehaps we may have them in another branch or in our warehouse in Rathcoole or you can order 24/7 through the Web site: www.Marksmodels.com.

Now I must try to re start the stalled models I have built up over the past 2 years as I feel the big coming back again!!!

Regards

George.

Hi George

Congrats on new job and new rugrat.
Good to hear that Marks Models in Cork is receiving a bit of a overhaul too.
I will definitely make a point of calling in the next time I'm in the second city.

Regards

Good luck with all.

The paint shortage was always an issue in Tara St & Dunlaoigre branches also, but since I discovered the Rathcoole warehouse that's a 2 min detour on my way home it's not an issue for me. I've always found the Dublin Marks branches to have a pretty good selection of most types of kits and with great staff. I presume they maintain the same high standard in Cork!

Cheers

Liam; Joe has moved on (or out), George is De man now.

Have to say, it's a pleasure to go in there now, and no need to ask somebody to move out the way to see if the paint you want is in stock; like others, I'm surprised to see what kits were in stock and was apparently always there, but hidden!

Big thanks again for yesterday! Looking forward to the next one already.

If you tell people where to go, but not how to get there, you'll be amazed at the results. George S. Patton

Thanks Guys, Joe has left nearly 2 months ago. The shop was being run by the lads for Dublin while they decided what to do.

I am running into my 4th week there now and the days go by so fast it's unreal. The only thing is the temptation of all the goodies in the shop as I do a bit of RC boats and planes as well as the trains so it can be hard not to walk away with a model or two some weeks!!

bought an Airfix Hood away with me yesterday, Going to make that within a month as it was sunk on May the 24th so hoping to have it ready for the next meeting.

Cheers

Hi George/ Roy.
Sorry to hear Joe's moved on. Liked the guy. Can you tell me then, do you have the recent Airfix 1/48 Supermarine Spitfire MkXII (A05117) ? Or is that something you'd have to order in? Just curious.

Best of luck with everything down there. Will have to take a trip down to see what's on the shelves.

Liam

I wonder have any Italeri Flying Stands come in?

I tried Hawkins Street recently and they said those were on backorder, just wondering if the situation has changed yet.

Spitfire, George, Spitfire. You can ask if they are getting any of them in.
I can't remember the two I got from you but I'm thinking it was FR47? I used one of those with the Aeroclub conversion to make a Mk. 21. The beauty of it is because the kit has both folded and non-folded wings, I can use the leftovers to make another Spitfire! (the conversion kit gives you a full fuselage and cockpit). Have been focused on a University course for now so haven't finished weathering it yet but my last exam is next thursday so will be getting down to that soon.

Next up is completing my Garda Gun-ship (heh heh) followed by an A-10 from Terminator Salvation. All the photo-etch and resin arrived yesterday.

Gonna be a fun summer.

I'd appreciate that, I have two projects on the go that are waiting on the stands. Will they know to hold it for me, I wouldn't be surprised if a few people were looking for them.

Nuts. Thanks for checking George. These Italeri stands you're talking about. Are they like the old Matchbox/Airfix stands? What scale of aircraft would suit them?

Stands

Here's the link to the stands on the Marks Models website. You get two stands in the one box, both for 1/72nd scale aircraft. They're positionable as well, look fairly sturdy.
