I set up an Urban Warfare Diorama campaign on Armorama and even though I've been leaving the components for my large Factory diorama on the workbench at night, the diorama elves have so far not done any work for me :) so although I still plan to build it I'm going to warm up by doing a smaller dio first. I have a large box with bits and pieces of plaster buildings I've cast over the years so I dug through it and picked a few pieces out to represent half buried buildings in a sea of rubble. As a base I recycled this one as the walker was destroyed by some visiting children :( awalker_2 by parkadge, on Flickr I reshaped it added the walls and covered most of the groundwork with plaster bandage/modroc 004 by parkadge, on Flickr 004 by parkadge, on Flickr I cut a lot of bricks from plaster with a junior hacksaw. I made up a gloopy syrup of acrylic paint and PVA glue which I then added the bricks to to soak up some colour. Then I applied the bricks to the groundwork and let the glue drain away. 010 by parkadge, on Flickr 007 by parkadge, on Flickr 008 by parkadge, on Flickr It's meant to depict the backs of buildings in a sea of rubble that has been fought over for a long time. Still lots more bricks to add and I haven't made a final decision on the figures I want to include yet.

Jeeez, Pat, have comlpetly missed this thread. Nice pile of rubbles, if you look at the pictures from bomb-out towns that's how they look like, one bum and there goes the house. Nice one

I didn't like the overall shape of the building so I've added this to the middle. AQ lot more to do but I'm happy with the direction it's taking 007 by parkadge, on Flickr 006 by parkadge, on Flickr

A real mixture of urban architecture of different periods often seen in patchy build up of many European old towns. Well done. When did you say is your deadline for the GP? ;o)

Thanks Filip the build finishes at the end of the month but I'm making good progress The green on the fascia and the drainpipes and gutters pops a little bit but I still have to add some washes to bring it all together. 017 by parkadge, on Flickr 012 by parkadge, on Flickr 011 by parkadge, on Flickr 010 by parkadge, on Flickr 013 by parkadge, on Flickr

Here are the figures. They need a lot of work to sharpen them up. 006 - Copy by parkadge, on Flickr The cat is from tamiya, the boy with his hand up and the tiny head is from Preiser and the rest are from Masterbox. I gave the boy with his hands in his pockets a pair of shoes as the figure comes barefoot. The man holding the girl is a conversion of the oldman in the European Civilian set and the girl from the France 1944 set. The boy with the tiny head will get a new head from Hornet set HH/31 Heads - 2 old men, 2 youths, 1 boy. I'm also going to move his hand so that he is reaching out more to the cat 017 - Copy by parkadge, on Flickr 021 - Copy by parkadge, on Flickr 023 - Copy by parkadge, on Flickr 014 - Copy by parkadge, on Flickr Not totally settled on the Figure placement yet and I would like to put a woman in there somewhere but can't decide on a suitable one

It does not look like you need the hobby elves to help, you are a true master builder on your own... this looks amazing...

Sure, if it is a Berlin - or any other town or city of the 1000 years Reich there got to be some uniform somewhere, policeman, fireman, LSR warden or some other 'man in uniform' to keep things ticking.
Nice work, Pat - as usual

Nice work, Pat - as usual Yeah I thought about that Filip but I want to leave uniforms out entirely. Not even sure if it's Germany anymore. Could be the North Strand in Dublin after the Luftwaffe bombed it by mistake While I was making this I came up with an idea for a Triptych dio where I show the same buildings at three different points in time -first 1940 with the buildings in perfect condition and some German soldiers walking out in the number one uniforms to the admiring glances of passers by, second with Germans fighting Russians through the ruins and lastly with Preiser Women Digging In Ruins figure set cleaning up the rubble at war's end and if I can manage it a rendition of that famous photo of the Soviet Soldier taking the bike from the German woman

That's just an excellent idea Pat, really like it. I'd imagine that the building would clearly be ruined, but if something could be kept the same, something that 'survived' through the three periods? It could be something small like a lamppost or something like that? Just to show something not changing ( apart from paint / wear and tear ) amidst all the change and destruction? J.
