Hi chaps... I am planning to build the Tamiya Quad with the limber and 25lb field gun as used by the Irish Army.
My question is two fold... first did the barrel have the muzzel in the end and is it all over green or grey?

Yo,
British Army Green & yes it had the muzzle flash,
Some Irish guns are reported to have been used in North Africa in WWII. Also some guns restored in the UK fir demonstration are ex Irish guns. One or two have even been restored with Irish markings :)
You will need to convert the Quad if you want an accurate Irish variant, the doors are completely different than the Tamiya offering. Reference Karl Martins book & you will see what I mean..
Best of luck Sean ;)

Best of luck Sean ;) LOL... I knew you'd be able to point me in the right direction... I don't have Karl Martins book only Ralph Riccio's 'AFV's in Irish Service since 1922' which is generally very informative but only has one b/w image of the Quads in the background with 18 pounders (page 102) It is hard to see the details of the Quads. I was home the end of July for a wek and managed to get away to the transport museum in Howth so I could do a photo walkround... paid my admission then spent an hour looking for the Quad... only to find it is not on display... I was not a happy chappy. parkadge wrote:Here's a walk around of a restored Irish 25 pounder in London of all places 25 pdr walkaround Great link... do you know where in London the Irish 25 pounder is on display?

I asked one of the guys who helped with the restoration and the gun is at Larkhill British Army base which is unfortunately not open to the public :( Did you follow the link to the 25pdr video

I'm guessing the 25 pdr is on display at the National Army museum in Chelsea... I pass along the Thames on my daily commute and can see off in the distance some cannon on display.
