Greetings!
My name is Graham and I'm currently living in Kilkenny. I've been building kits since 2005 following a hiatus of about 20 years. My main interests are military aircraft from WWII to present day and cars. I will have a go at other kits every now and again though, sci-fi, warships etc. My standard of building wouldn't anything like good enough to have on public display but I will post the odd picture online and welcome any comments / criticisms that might improve my skills.

Welcome Graham.
I think that 20 year hiatus applies to about 99% of people here. Do post pics please: no-one laughs, just give honest friendly and extremly useful advice.

Graham, First off, welcome! No problems about coming back to the hobby after a lay-off - did it myself a few years ago (actually 2006 after a 25 year hiatus). As the guys have said, most people are in a similar situation. Glad to see another person who is into WW2 aircraft....you will see that many had this "Hawk" disease for a while (now thankfully no longer contagious ) I never caught it, as I'm more into things with Swastikas and St Andrew's crosses on their tails...... Not too many in the club are into cars, though, so we would very much welcome some introduction to this side of the hobby....there were some lovely ones at the recent Irish Nationals in Swords, Co Dublin, from a nice bunch of guys from the UK and NI mainly..... Please do put up a couple of pics, as we would love to see your work... Also, even though you are in Kilkenny....if you want to come up to Dublin on a Saturday morning once a month, you'd be most welcome to come to a Dublin Chapter meet. The next one is this coming Saturday, then we have one on 17th December....(have a look at the Dublin meets section on the forum for an idea of what we do.). Alternatively, of course, you could go down on a Saturday evening to Cork, where the Cork guys meet....or to Shannon. Philip

Thank you all for the welcome. I would like to attend a Dublin chapter meet. Don't think I will be able to this weekend but hopefully in the near future I will.

hi Graham welcome back into modelling. do not worry about how the standard of your work as we all started off there. have to say since joining the club last year and going to the few meetings that i could make(living in Co. Carlow) i have learned a lot from the guys and they are only too happy to share any info or knowledge. ask questions you may have and the guys will surely answer even if you thinks it is beginners stuff. look forward to seeing your work. Welcome Graham! I'm a newbie here too and was at the last Dublin branch meeting, which was my first. And like so many here, am not long back into the hobby after a long break. I wasn't sure about posting pics let alone bringing kits but you know what? I brought some kits to that first meeting, met a great bunch of people; got loads of helpful comments and advice. And saw some other great kits too (unbuilt and finished). Even managed to get an order in for Telford! Post away - you won't regret it. Hi Graham,
Great to see yet another returnee. I recently joined myself after an absence of 45 years. Its a real eye-opener for me to see many people coming back to the hobby after such long lay offs. I must say the guys here are very supportive and encouraging. I'm a bit shy myself about showing my work but because of the encouragement I've received here I'll be bringing my half complete Matilda to the meet on Saturday. Many of the guys here are very experienced and produce incredible models - some of the models on display at D1 were absolutely stunning. It can only help to improve your skills by putting your work up for these guys to judge and offer advise on, so do put up your pics.
Don.
