Hi all,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Chris Ayre of Model Aircraft Magazine for including a picture of my Irish Air Corps Alouette 3 Search & Rescue Diorama in the December issue of Model Aircraft Magazine during his feature on the Irish Nationals D1.
I very much appreciate his kind words.
Alan Hughes.

Yes, it was indeed nice to get the plaudits for D1 from the experts - the guys who organise the biggest model show on this side of the Atlantic....(SMW!)
I had a very nice e-mail from the President of IPMS (UK), Paul Regan, on this also, expressing similar sentiments and expressing the hope that he can come over at some stage.
Thanks to Chris for his fine article, and his plug for 2012 in SNN.
Thanks to all the folks from IPMS Ireland, and particularly those members from the Dublin Chapter who organised the venue, contacted the traders, did the competition registration, manned and ran the kitswop etc, (yes, that's Simon, Paul and Vincent!) and especially those who gave of their time (and expertise) to be judges for the competition (including yourself, Roy).
Also thanks to those from other branches who came and manned their own club displays at D1.
It all showed that the IPMS Ireland Nationals is on the map as a good show at which to attend.
Long may it continue!
Philip

Roy The ad on the front page of the mag says 'IPMS UK monthly update' and so the article is titled appropriately - as it is every month: IPMS UK update. If you read the article you'll see that it is starting with IPMS UK stuff before moving to the IPMS IRL Nationals. Can't see anything wrong with that. I don't want to start some silly dispute on here, so I'd better shut up and go and do some more paying work, believe or not, currently painting all 10 dead hunger strikers on a tank of a Harley, how convenient is that...

Roy Kinsella wrote:Exactly! Ireland is not the UK Hello Guys Just wandered in and came across this thread - late again! I registered so that I might respond to Roy and ask if he'd have preferred me not to report on the show. However, I see that it all seems to have been made clear and everyone is happy... Yay! I write a monthly column for Model Aircraft magazine on behalf of IPMS (UK) and I try to cover various aspects of the hobby and all things IPMS. I really enjoyed my trip to the Irish Nationals and wanted to encourage others to support the event in future. I'll report on the eDay show in Prague if I make it there this year and I'm hoping to get to Shannon in September. The column is essentially a mouthpiece for the UK Society but I'm just happy to try and raise the profile of modelling as a hobby - wherever anyone is interested. By the way, I'm just finishing up on laying out another report on D1 - this time it's in the IPMS (UK) Magazine. Hope nobody minds! GR1 [Chris Ayre]

Jazus its like fight night here sometimes on this site.. Ok moving on.. Hi Chris Good to see you here, Mmmm.. It appears I've caught your attention & may even have upset you? notably so that you've taken the time to register & leave a response to a remark I made about that particular articles appearance.. I'll try answer your question & explain myself somewhat without causing further upset to ya. "No" would be the answer but I'm confused, why would I rather you not write the article?? That makes no sense at all mate?.. I did not mean to upset you Chris, I was simply pointing out something that a lot of people have mentioned on first reading the article I don't always have the time to read all the mags so when I see an "Irish" themed article it raises my Interests, In this case I opened the mag, read the large bold heading; IPMS UK (etc) & then read on to see an Irish show report under this heading, that's all. I didn't loose sleep about it & I wouldn't expect anyone else did either.. My comments were not a dig at you, I enjoyed the article & appreciate you taking the time to come over & cover the shows! I'm not exactly a stranger to the world of writing & reporting on modelling & military subjects so I am all too aware of the time & attention needed to write even the smallest of articles. I would only consider my comments as light hearted criticism & in no way a personal attack or a questioning about your talented writing or reporting attributes.. Rather than feed the trolls anymore I'll leave it there by thanking you for your contribution in raising the awareness & hard work of both Irish Clubs. We are a small community & personally im very greatful for your attention & efforts in helping us along. I wish you best of luck & I look forward to reading more of your "Irish" articles again in the future. Your faithfully Roy BTW Filip there's no need to prove your Irish Republican artistic talents mate, I wasn't getting into that whole British/Irish thing, its history as far as im concerned & I've no interst in it! No offence intended, I could be in the middle of airbrushing a Soviet tank from the Prague Spring uprising but it's totally irrelevant to this article too

It meant to be a bit lighthearted sarcastic comment - which I thought was obvious from my post - nevertheless truthful. I really had a tins here which were painted with those dead guys on it, Collins, Pearse, Plunket and Wolfetone, not a theme of my choice though... I am Moravian nationalist and when Soviet tank, then burning ...and to Chris, thanks for the article and you will be more than welcome in Shannon, in fact, we -in Limerick/Shannon branch - are secretly hoping to attract more overseas visitors with their models. After all, we are bit cut out of the rest of the world here in IRL and we need to get more quality models to the show to see how things are done elsewhere and to motivate ourselves to build better...
